John R. Reed, Inc. was founded in 2001 when John R. Reed, an original owner of R. S. Reed and Sons, Inc., which had been in the trucking industry since 1975, joined his wife Patsy Reed in forming John R. Reed, Inc.  John R. Reed began his trucking heritage with Reed Trucking Company in 1975 by purchasing trucks and dump trailers and hiring drivers to haul aggregates and lime for agricultural and construction purposes.

By the late 70’s they were providing long haul services for more specialized products with dump and flatbed trailers.

By 1983 Reed Trucking Company was incorporated as R. S. Reed and Sons, Inc.

In 1989 the company began providing dry van services as well as flatbed for general commodities.

In the 90’s the fleet was increased significantly and better customer service opportunities and employment opportunities with benefits were being provided.

When John R. Reed and his wife Patsy Reed formed John R. Reed, Inc. and purchased R. S. Reed and Sons, Inc. in 2001, he began yet another fleet expansion.

They formed a sister company, Reed Freight Services, Inc., in 2002 as a freight brokerage.

In 2003 John R. Reed, Inc. developed temperature controlled capabilities to go along with their existing dry van and flatbed capabilities.

John R. Reed, Inc. now operates approximately 60 tractor units and a combination of 100 dry van, flatbed, and temperature controlled trailers.
